OLD PHOTOS OF THE DAY

These OPOTD shots are of Mark Seidel at "the Pit" in Stow from 1983-84. The guy in the red shirt is Dan Sweeney. The Pit was across the street from my house, and was up and running for close to 15 years before we all moved away and it eventually became someones back yard. The original hole was dug as a test site for housing, but was left totally alone for years and became pretty much where we lived. The entire bowl was pure clay and made for amazing trails. The shot of part of the bowl here is pretty poor but it'll give you the idea ...it had lips, hips, tree bonks, fire gaps and stayed fairly shaded through the summer. It bordered Maynard too so we had a good crew of guys from all there and around Acton. I believe Mark was from Groton and his family owned the Johnsons Stand on 119 across from the Country Club. Other guys like "Timeless" Jody Stoddard, Lee Alexander, Scott Johnson, Jimmy and Kathy Tedesco came from the Groton area too. All sorts of random guys rolled through there over the years.

FRESH SKATE MEAT

Longboard and short cruisers are in from Sector 9 and now GFH. Trucks from Gullwing, GFH...wheels from Sector 9 and GFH too. Bones 100's, REDS, and the NEW Super Reds which are basically Swiss made in China if that makes sense. They have higher quality steel races , upgraded balls, and superior surface finish thus creating a smoother, quieter, longer lasting bearing. Chocolate and Girl decks are also back!

OLD PHOTOS OF THE DAY

Todays OPOTD pics are shots I took of a long time friend Sean Mclaughlin. Sean and I grew up together on BMX and snowboarding, worked together in ski rentals and EB. Sean was the original Nashua store manager before Earl dog got in there. Then he came back to work in the Leominster shop as the bike buyer and TM. After years working at EB he moved to PA and worked with Little Devil before going on and getting into road racing. The shots range from the later 80's to mid 90's. Seans doing well and tying the knot in August down in PA with Mandy...big congrats to them.

OLD PHOTOS OF THE DAY

These are some shots I took of Chad Kramer ..1995-96? We had a demo behind the old Fitchburg store with Chad, Andy Mac, Salman Agah and others that I don't remember..Preston M was there too. I always liked building ghetto things for people to try out and this sketchy 8' long loading dock tranny to tiny tranny transfer was pretty ghetto but Chad stuck it. I believe it was an Es' demo we were having. ( Hans says it was a Woodward demo which could make sense ) Chad was skating for the Seattle based Torque Skateboards at the time. The shot in the woods was an after demo session on 2z's mini ramp. Not long after this shot Chad ended up going off the edge of the ramp into a tree with his back. Session over. That's EB owner Tabor Coates on the ramp decks in the green EB tshirt. ( he's incredibly old but still kills it ) On the red EB 1/4 pipe is also Steve "unsung ruler" Chiasson, and EB's "I'm happiest when I'm grumpy" Hans Warehouse Stacy.

NEW STUFF

Independent Koston 129's and Reynolds 129 trucks, Creature, Girl, and Chocolate decks, some Ricta, Girl and Chocolate wheels. BMX parts..Primo Balance hoops and some of the basics cables tubes...

OLD PHOTOS OF THE DAY

These photos were taken in August 1985 at the Wallace Civic Center in Fitchburg. The first shot is of Joe Johnson going flat, the other two are of Ron Wilkerson. Rons invert was seriously ridiculous for back then. The event was pretty much a pro demo/show with bank ramps the 1/4 pipe pictured in these, and a bunch of whacky flatland riding. Rons of course gone on and had 2HIP rolling for years too.

CLOSED JULY 4TH

Enjoy the 4th of July however you celebrate it...I'd suggest making a nice new bass boat and floating out on the swamp with a couple cold ones.
