ROLLER BLADING ACCIDENT
He's been broken off and we wish him well. Evan our man about town has sadly been dinged. While busting a huge air out of an Aspen Ubowl ....cough cough..he seemed to have taken a little spill. Although his winter may have been cut a bit short, chances are he will still be able to be in full effect at a tavern near you. Cheers
SKATE
No pics but we did get some Plan B, Real, Anti Hero and Krooked decks in.

SAT SNOW EVENT
I don't have an official flyer for this yet and might never have one so here's a list of the W's....
Where?....Wachusett Mountain. Actual event time will probably be 11am - around 2:30pm.
When?....This Saturday the 2nd get your bad self over there. Don't be a turd and be late for registration. Besides it'll be a Saturday and you'll be taking the shuttle to the lodge if you're there later than 9:30am. Not good.
What?...Our Annual Ryan Joubert Slopestyle event. Very good.
Why?....You rip and you want to take home some money. Excellent!
Win?....Cash..icey cold green lettuce. CREAM.
Wow!.....like yeah..wow I can win some money and pay some bills or blow it all on a cheap date. Not too bad.
Weeee!.....Weeeee! We'll be sliding boxes, rails and throwing down hammers all day on jumps and hopefully a 1/4 tube. Most excellent.
Wham?.......Herb has a thing for George Micheal and I figured I'd toss that in here. He should be there too after Vegas this week unless he and Steve get all silly and go to the big house. Funny if it happens but expensive for lawyer fees.
Woozy!....If all goes well the Copper Top will be a meeting place for treats after the things said and done for old folks. Bonus.
Wicked...It'll be a wicked awesome shredical day bro! Don't be a kook and miss it. Lame.
So there you have it. You'll need a valid lift pass for the day and there is an entry fee of let's guess 20 bucks ish so there is a decent purse. Don't quote me on this yet but there may be as much as 1,000 dollar bills or another combo of bills that should equal $1,000 up for grabs. Either way, if you place you should have more in the bottom of your pocket than you came with. Super bonus...............update for those that still read old posts...looks like a $500 purse..still a bonus. Look above now for the real deal.

GROMS RIP UP WACHUSETT
Thanks to everyone that came and rode in the Blue Collar Grom Series today at Wachusett Mtn. Big thanks to Brandon and Burton for help and the killer prizes, the park crew, and Wachusett for letting it all happen again too. Most events these days cater to expert level riders. This series was started with the beginner kids in mind, encouraging them to try riding in a contest where the stress factor is low and the park elements are basic. Everyone that entered did a great job. It's not easy to drop in and not feel like everyones eyes are on you. Hopefully the 40 kids who were all between 7-15 yrs old went home feeling like they tried something new and fun. Some had entered events before and some had to be convinced that it's not so hard to do it once you try. Everyone starts off small and works their way up. Keep on keeping on out there Groms.... we hope to see you in future events too!

MG, WTF and all the text crap lingo here.
When our buddy Nick Francke builds a jump he doesn't mess around. He'll be building the quarter pipe for the Air and Style in the next two weeks. Chances are he'll ride it and destroy the thing too. According to him it's "f'n huge..the biggest man made quarter I've ever seen." Should be interesting. Stay tuned for pics and results.
15YRS / UNDER EVENT SAT. WACHUSETT
EB and Burton are going to be at Wachusett this Sat morning for another fun and scare free event. This event is to encourage younger riders to enter a contest without having to get the butterflies and queezies. If you ride, and can hit basic boxes, rails and a smaller jump, then this is your shot at the limelight. It's not even going to cost you anything. Have a valid pass for the day and join in the fun. Don't miss registration and make sure your parents are there to sign you up in the lodge. You'll be riding with your buddies and we'll be there to cheer you on too.

NEWBIES
MIA
If you've ever wondered what the entry floor mat we have in the shop was all about, then you missed out on some of the best riding boards ever made. MIA snowboards closed their doors years ago but their boards can still be seen all over the place. Every year we still tune up way more than you could imagine and people simply won't give them up and update their gear. "Why fix it if it isn't broken" and "I haven't found a board yet that I like better so I keep going back to this" is typically the reaction we get. Today Jon took this 2001 Destroyer in for a little binding work ( this was one of the last models made) I saw the old "Castle" graphic board at Wachusett a week ago that looked like it just came out of the bag. The FW deck always turns up somewhere. MIA had a really good thing going. For a small company they had their shit together when it came to image and quality. Bummer they didn't have deep pockets to keep it rolling.
Check the shrub Jons growing on his head. Makes me tear up since I can now polish my central dome. Seems more than boards go MIA. sniff sniff

TURTLES
Here's one for the old Boston skate guys. For those that liked street and a good mix of skating this was the shit. You could spend hours on these banks. There was a shallow wading pool that was always empty too. The whole playground was pretty much skatable.
Pictured here..Brooke Pitcher, Mike Tallone, Dave Mills ( who went on to help open Underground and work for Stimilon, manage the Gravis team..and now works in the motorcross loop) and Ross Freeman ( I think), who had a really good half pipe right behind the Acton Police station.

YE OLD SCENE
Ever wonder what was going on around here back in the late 70's and into the 80's? Probably not but I'm here to show you anyways. Fitchburg hosted an all Pro event back in the old hockey rink with riders like ( names will be spelled wrong I'm sure)Joe Johnson, Mike Dominguez, Ron Wilkerson, Martin Apario, and many more. The town of Whitensville Ma held a freestyle contest with Fred Blood, Dominguez, your local hero John Lawson, Chris Lashua (who went on to roll around in a giant wheel for the Cirque du Soleil) and many other local rippers. There were tracks all over...Dunstable, Lunenburg, Wakefield and others packed with riders every weekend. Lake jumps, backyard tracks, ramps, pits and street riding were all there. It's cool to see it all still alive and well...and way sicker.
THAT REMINDS ME...
Spike mentioned Dizz Hicks in the Worcester blog, here are some old pics I took of he and Ceppie Mayes at a shop show around here sometime around the early 80's. He was riding for CW at the time. The show consisted of a wedge ramp and a small quarter pipe like almost all of them but they always drew a large crowd.

Dirty Dan C... SHREDS!!!
WAX ON WAX OFF
If you haven't been sliding around quite as fast as you did since that virgin run on your new board it may be time to give it some love. Waxing your whip is an important part of keeping your board in good condition. If you're seeing the base of the board looking a little dull in color, almost "white" looking, then it may be time. Hot iron waxing is the way to go. Paste and rub on waxes are a great short term fix but don't really get into the base like it should. Turn easier and slide faster. Get to the next box, rail or jump with ease instead of having to start half way up the trail to have enough speed. If you don't do it at home we can usually give your board a hot wax while you wait for just $10 in the shop.

HAPPY LITTLE TREES
I found this picture of our Danvers / man of all stores Evan Laporte behind the scenes painting......well it's actually Bob Ross, however Evan is a pretty talented painter. Here's an old shot of him killing the DVS bench too.....sort of. Check some of the old crew behind him..Steve (who escaped the evil clutches) Jose, Lil John (who is now in Iraq) Matt (who has become the backcountry snowboarding junkie) and Julia (aka Juwels who has since been married off to writer, skater Peter, and living who knows where, selling books on a beach or exploring some third world country. Who is also very missed)

MY GUNS BIGGER THAN YOURS
Tahoe just got nailed. Jay has been off the chain, and even though we got "a little rain and warm weather" this week, things have been pretty damn good out there for the beginning of the winter. Got a trip planned? Need a powder gun or a man sized board to slay the worlds biggest rails and plow through heavy ski traffic like you own the mountain? Well...we have this beauty here at the shop that would just love to be in your quiver. Libs 180cm Grocer on sale for $299 bucks. It'll double as a cot for guests, a dirtbike ramp for your truck bed, a barn door, diving board, and even a shuffle board court. OK maybe not a cot.

EB TEAM INVADES FLORIDA
Find time to shut that glowing box off and skate. OG team guy Brian Jarosz was in the shop today getting a new set up. He and Doug Moore are on the road to Florida this week. Dan Carrerio has also been driving south to Fla to compete in Volcoms mini ramp contest again this year. Already down there are Tommy, Mac, Pat and many more New England heads.
