TAYLOR OWEN ON THE COME UP

"Taylor had a very good weekend at the Burton Am series stop at Waterville Valley NH this weekend! Saturday she finished 1st in the 1/2 pipe and also won best trick of the day. Sunday she finished 2nd in the Slopestyle. She is already in the US Open for slopestyle, but the win on Saturday also gets her an invite to the 1/2 pipe qualifiers. She also walked away with $1500 in cash for 2 afternoons work in the sun! Guess who is paying for camp this summer?" Way to go TO Get your Last Call tricks dialed in.

From the looks of it the EB guys did pretty well there too.

EASTERN BOARDERS LAST CALL AT LOON

It's really hard to believe ten years has past since we at Eastern Boarder were dreaming up a spring snowboard event that we could all blow off some steam at. "Last Call" as it was dubbed, was simply a good reason to gather up shop employees, friends, and our local reps to have a few good laughs with on the trails together. We always thought the backyard type of gathering was the most fun to try and recreate on the slopes. Building oddball jumps and making things that tend to be on the sketchy side was always a good way to get people laughing, claiming and one upping each other. This "anti contest" contest of sorts was just the thing we all needed to let loose. In 2001 we had a little cash, some swag, some tall boys, and random things to toss out to the outstanding riders that survived the day, and overall Last Call looked like a success and worth trying again.
Loon in NH became home for Last Call a few years back and has since been an amazing host mountain for just such an event. The LMP park staff headed by Brian Norton puts in a ton of hours sculpting and tweaking their already impressive park to help make Last Call unique every time we go there.
It still has a somewhat backyard feel and guarantees a lot of fun and claiming. The secret features we have sketched up this time around should have riders going all out. If they can't ride it all they sure won't be on top at the end of the day. Our 10th Anniversary event will again take place at Loon March 24th 2010. I can't thank our extended EB family, friends, sponsors and spectators enough for helping to keep Last Call such an underground success over the years. Snowboarding needs this sort of thing. Without you all involved it just wouldn't be able to happen. Thank you to this years sponsors K2 Snowboards, Oakley, 32, Redbull, NXTZ, Scion, Skullcandy and Dakine. Immediately following awards we'll be in the Bunyan room below the gondola. Plan on getting a room that evening and follow us downtown for a little more letting loose too.

Hope to see you all there.

Andy Bub and the entire Eastern Boarder gang.

LEAP OF FAITH

Easily one of the most memorable Last Call moments was the double rainbow rail transfer that Nick K went for back at Ragged. Attempting the near impossible ricochet stunt not once but a couple of times leaving everyone both howling and scared to death for him. He never landed the trick but people still talk about it. This is what it's all about. Awesome. Click the image for a better look.

10 YEARS OF LAST CALL

It's coming up again March 24th 2010 ...... why not be a little piece of New England snowboarding history with us.
Thank you for making the 10th Annual event happen K2, Oakley, 32, Redbull, Scion, NXTZ, Dakine, Skullcandy and of course Loon Mtn NH. The flyers in the slideshow are in order of when they went down.

FOUR YEAR STRONG

EB local and BMX ripper turned rock star Josh Lyford is the man. He also has great taste in clothing as shown here on their new album artwork for "Enemy of the World." Thanks Josh! He'll be back in the states soon too after another long tour all over the planet. Not bad considering he was pretty much living out of his dead car in PA. a while ago.

TAYLOR OWEN

Taylor had a great day on Sunday winning both sessions, slopestyle and rail jam of the Billabong Flaunt it tour at Waterville Valley NH. This is a 6 stop tour, 4 in Canada and 2 in the US. The winners of each stop get all expense trip, on top of tons of schwag, cash, and go to the finals at Mt Tremblant Quebec on March 27. Next stop Burton Am series then over to Stratton for the US Open Slopestyle. Nice going Taylor.

We have had Taylor on the EB radar ever since she competed in Last Call a few years back as a mini shred.
